Al Ma’wa for Nature and Wildlife is a nonprofit private company, under the Ministry of Trade and Industry in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, created through a partnership between the Princess Alia Foundation and FOUR PAWS.

Al Ma’wa for Nature and Wildlife is searching for a positive thinking, dynamic personality with great affinity to animal welfare as soon as possible:

Role and responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise the animal care taker team on their daily standard operating procedures
  • Daily and weekly staff meetings
  • Ensure proper record keeping by the staff of the animal care unit
  • Ensure all safety procedures are known and followed by all members of staff at all times
  • Monitor and ensure all animal welfare standards are known and followed by all members of staff
  • Monitor and evaluate the adaptation of rescued animals; particularly wild felids and ursids and initiate the required rehabilitation programmes
  • Planning and management of socializing big cats
  • Monitoring and documentation of the health conditions and concerning behaviour of animals
  • Assist with veterinary interventions and procedures
  • Evaluate and supervise the application of enrichment programmes
  • Establish and implement reasonable training concepts for wild felids and ursids when needed
  • Evaluate the technical and reasoning skills of animal care takers and develop/implement the needed training
  • Supervise and work with volunteers
  • Assist in the translocation of animals from and to the sanctuary
  • Quality check and implementation of the PAF and VP quality standards in animal management related areas
  • Report to CEO as outlined in the quality standards



  • Scientific knowledge in animal behaviour and welfare standards
  • Previous experience in the captive management of wild life; preferably with wild felids and ursids
  • Ability to walk rough terrains in all types of weather
  • Willingness to work with people who can speak little or no English
  • Being sensible and aware of the cultural differences
