FOUR PAWS is an international animal welfare organisation with Headquarters in Vienna, Austria, and has offices in more than 10 other countries. Founded by Heli Dungler in 1988, the organisation strives for improvements in animal welfare through sustainable campaigns and projects. FOUR PAWS focuses on animals that are directly under human influence, for example stray dogs and stray cats, farm animals, wild animals and companion animals kept in inappropriate housing. FOUR PAWS aims to help animals in need directly and quickly.

We are searching for a positive thinking personality with great affinity to animal welfare as soon as possible:

CO-WORKER COMPETENCE CENTRE Big Cats (m/f)

Maternity cover; Fulltime; Location: Hamburg or Vienna

 

Main duties:

Participating in the planning, implementation, coordination and controlling of new projects for the Competence Centre Big Cats

Representing and promoting the Competence Centre Big Cats internally and externally, for instance in international conferences, networking and meetings

Working with the different departments and country offices to develop powerful integrated projects and drive change

Developing relationships and cooperating with a range of stakeholders including authorities, NGO’s, zoos, animal welfare organisations and volunteers

Ensuring the cooperation with experts for all content related (scientific) questions for projects

Monitoring relevant news and sharing it via relevant communication channels

Conducting research aiming to update internal databases that contain information about legislation and numbers of big cats

Assessing and evaluating big cat keeping conditions in captivity and encourage improvements

Dealing with rescue requests and being able to respond promptly in urgent cases, investigate alleged reports of animal cruelty or neglect
 
Requirements:

University degree or similar college education in a relevant field

Basic understanding of wild animals and a commitment to conservation

Excellent communication skills

Fluent in English and German language (written and oral)

Ability to work independently and on own initiative

Inter-cultural sensitivity and familiarity to work with and adapt to an international team

Stress-resistant personality

Great affinity to animal welfare and FOUR PAWS issues and values

We offer you a gross salary of minimum EUR 33.000 per year, depending on your qualifications, skills and professional experience.
