FOUR PAWS is an international animal welfare organisation with its headquarters in Vienna, Austria, and offices in 14 other countries. Founded by Heli Dungler in 1988, the organisation works to help animals in need through sustainable campaigns and projects. FOUR PAWS focuses on animals under direct human influence, for example stray dogs and cats, farm animals, companion animals and wild animals kept in inappropriate conditions. FOUR PAWS aims to help animals in need fast and directly.

We are searching for a positive thinking personality with great affinity to animal welfare as soon as possible:

Senior Governmental Affairs Referent (m/f)

Main duties:

  • Run the FOUR PAWS Germany representative office in Berlin
  • Maintain and expand the political network and represent the activities of FOUR PAWS to political- and civil society stakeholders
  • Analyze political developments and legislative proposals at the federal level and state levels
  • Draft and implement public affairs activities
  • Responsibility for budget planning and controlling
  • Draft speeches, briefings, position papers, statements and presentations
  • Participate in preparing events
  • Prepare meetings with political stakeholders



  • University degree in political science or related field
  • Several years of work experience in lobbying, public affairs and preferably animal welfare
  • Comprehensive knowledge of political processes, familiarity with the functioning of parliaments and ministries, as well as civil society organisations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in German and English
  • Ability to think analytically and strategically
  • Ability to present complex issues in a comprehensible manner
  • Being a team player with good communication and social skills
  • Great affinity for animal welfare and FOUR PAWS issues and values
