Rescue Dog Alisa

A story of healing and hope

11.9.2023

In July 2021, Alisa, a little pup with a broken hip, was discovered on the streets of Chernivtsi, a city in Southwestern Ukraine. Thanks to the intervention of a local animal protection organisation, Alisa underwent a vital operation, receiving an osteosynthesis device (fixation of a bone) to aid her recovery. As placing her in a shelter in such a vulnerable state could have had adverse effects on her health, her handler, Antonina, selflessly decided to foster Alisa until she regained her strength and could find a loving forever home.

During Alisa's rehabilitation, Antonina could not help but notice her remarkable potential to become an exceptional Animal Assisted Intervention (AAI) dog. Alisa displayed an innate friendliness, sociability, and an impressive aptitude for following commands. Inspired by Alisa's promising qualities, Antonina made the heartfelt decision to officially adopt her and embark on an intensive training journey.

Alisa's determination and resilience paid off, as she made a successful recovery and blossomed into an energetic and lively companion. She adores interacting with both adults and children, demonstrating a unique ability to discern when someone desires her company and when to give them space. Alisa eagerly embraces new learning experiences and thrives on the praise she receives for her accomplishments.

Today, Alisa stands as a shining example of resilience and the transformative power of love and dedication. She has not only overcome adversity but has also become a cherished member of the AAI community, ready to bring joy and support to those in need.
