Chief Animal Caretaker (m/f/d)

Your contribution will be

  • Ensuring the smooth and efficient daily operations of the animal related areas within the sanctuary and working within the guidelines of health and safety procedures to ensure animal, staff and visitor safety and security  
  • Supervising the animal caretaker teams and ensuring that daily husbandry practices and safety protocols are strictly adhered to 
  • Creating and implementing enrichment programs for all bears  
  • Keeping record of daily procedures, behavioral observations and veterinary procedures 
  • Carrying out socialisations, weighing bears, positive reinforcement training 

 

Your profile ideally illustrates

  • A relevant degree in zoology, ecology, biology or veterinary medicine. Qualifications in wildlife management, zoo biology and zookeeping are preferred 
  • Experience in working with bears or other wild animals is a plus 
  • Familiarity with national laws and regulations regarding wild animals and their keeping  
  • Very strong Bulgarian and English skills, both written and spoken  
  • Driver’s license is required 
  • Practical, adaptable, creative, hardworking and problem solver 
  • Great affinity to animal welfare and FOUR PAWS vision and mission
