Public Consultation on Animal Welfare Legislation
Raise your voice for welfare of farmed animals in Europe
The European Commission has launched its public consultation on animal welfare legislation and wants to hear the opinion from citizens like you! Take this opportunity to have your say and help shape the future of animals in the EU. You will need no more than 30 minutes to complete the consultations.
Ready now? Or set aside some time in your diary before Friday, 12 December.
This consultation is open to everyone, European citizens and non-Europeans, regardless of your background or expertise – you just need to care about animals. Need help? We will guide you through every question, providing clear explanations and suggestions while encouraging you to use your own voice.

The consultation closes on 12 December 2025, so now is the time to act.
In FOUR PAWS' assessment, it is important to give feedback from as many supporters as possible to let the EU Commission know that the people demand stricter protection of farmed animals. By participating and filling out the form, you can help improve conditions for farmed animals in Europe, and thus advocate, among other things, for an end to cage keeping and the killing of male day-old chicks.

How does it work?
The European Commission has created an online form that can be completed by all individuals and organisations interested in EU animal welfare legislation. Once the survey is complete, the European Commission will view the responses. The results are a strong message to the Commission regarding prioritising the welfare of farmed animals.
Why is it so important to fill out the form?
This is our chance to show the European Commission that higher animal welfare standards for farmed animals are a priority for the Public. The EU has a duty to represent the interests of its citizens, and we need to show them that animal welfare is one of those interests!
Will my answers actually be taken into account?
Yes! The European Commission cannot fulfil the demands and wishes of every single person who has completed the form. But if enough people demand better conditions, this will certainly have a positive influence on future legislation!
What points can I address in my feedback on the public consultation?
You can address whatever points are important to you. Here you can find a suggestion for your answers.
