Fear, Anxiety and Phobias in Pet Animals

Our pets can experience fear and anxiety just like we do

Our pets are part of our families, but we often forget that animals are sentient beings and can feel fear, as well as suffer from anxiety and phobias. Depending on the individual pet, the triggers that cause fear vary greatly in individual animals and will depend on their level of socialisation and experiences.

Anything that a pet feels as unpleasant can cause physiological, emotional and behavioural reactions. The awareness of a pet owner can help to avoid unpleasant situations for animals or can help to manage them better. Being able to recognize, understand and react to the signs of fear is of huge benefit for both the pet owner and the individual pet.
