Factory Farming Is Endangering the World's Forests

The EU must act now!

4.1.2021

The intensive farming of animals across our globe is wiping out our planet’s forests, savannahs and other precious ecosystems.

This devastation of nature is happening fast - and it is directly connected to the meat and dairy we eat in Europe. As if it wasn't enough for millions of animals to suffer the gruesome conditions of factory farming, the soy these animals are being fed often comes from areas in South America that were once covered in spectacular forests.

Globally, the EU is responsible for more than 10% of the total forest destruction. Forests that were once home to countless animal species and indigenous communities.

What can you do?

You can help! We've created a petition that will allow you to quickly and easily participate in a public consultation on EU action to tackle the EU's forest destruction footprint. By taking part you are directly asking the European Commission for a strong law to protect forests and nature around the world.

Get deforestation off your plate

We can keep deforestation off our plates by calling for a strong EU law that ensures that the products we buy are not linked to deforestation and ecosystem destruction - and this is now within reach. The public consultation on EU action to stop deforestation is now open.  Tell the EU we need a strong law to protect the world's forests and nature - decision-makers are listening.

Thanks to your great support, we helped #Together4Forests get over 1.1 million signatures to urge EU decision-makers to end EU-driven deforestation! The signatures have been handed over to the European Commission and we are watching closely to make sure the decision-makers in charge now create a strong law that prevents forest destruction.
